Despite her triumphant win on the global stage, the Filipino-American singer revealed that she has had to navigate significant physical changes that impacted the very instrument that made her famous: her voice.
Following her historic victory in the 20th season of America's Got Talent, where she competed while expecting her first child, Jessica transitioned into the demanding role of a new mother to her daughter, Eliana.
However, the physical aftermath of pregnancy presented a challenge she didn't fully anticipate.

In a candid interview with Unang Balita, which was also detailed by GMA Entertainment, the singer explained how the biological shifts of motherhood reached her vocal cords.
"Priorities are very different now, but also it has affected my singing too. All of the hormones have been changing my vocal cords and everything. So I've been having to like relearn how to sing and breathe," Jessica admitted.
This process of "relearning" is a daunting task for any artist, let alone one known for high-octane performances and complex vocal runs. Jessica described the experience as a period of adjustment where she had to re-familiarize herself with her body’s new mechanics.
To overcome this, she has been working diligently with a vocal coach to ensure she is in top form for her fans.
Despite these struggles, her connection to her heritage remains a source of joy. While currently in the Philippines for her homecoming, she shared a lighthearted moment about her daughter’s first taste of local culture.
"Actually, she did have [Filipino] mangoes today. She loved it. I was like, 'That's my Filipino baby,'" she shared with a smile.
Jessica’s journey serves as a powerful testament to the resilience of women in the arts. She continues to prepare for her major concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on May 16, viewing this phase not as a setback, but as an evolution.
For Jessica, the road to recovery is paved with the same determination that fueled her rise to stardom.
She encouraged other aspiring artists to keep pushing through their own obstacles, noting that "discrimination" and "challenges" should never stop someone from "shooting for their dreams."
