In a powerful new Instagram post, the actor reflected on his life-changing decision to join the military seven years ago. For Matteo, being a reservist is a promise he has kept close to his heart.
"Seven years ago, I made the decision to become a reservist, a promise I’ve carried with me ever since," he shared. He explained that this commitment has taken him to many places, including a recent, deeply personal mission to the West Philippine Sea.
The mission was an eye-opener for the star. He noted that being in the area reminded him why their presence is needed now more than ever.

"The West Philippine Sea isn’t just water," Matteo said in his video. "It’s where Filipino fishermen earn a living. It’s where our food comes from... a part of our identity and our future," he added.
During his trip, he met with the team at the PAG-ASA Island Research Station and spent time with fellow members of the AFP who stand guard every day. Seeing their dedication up close gave him a new perspective on the uniform he wears.
"Every time I go on a mission in uniform, I’m reminded that it’s more than just a piece of cloth," he explained. "It represents service, readiness, and my love for the Philippines."
Matteo ended his post with a proud declaration of his identity outside of showbiz, one that was met with praise.
"I’m Matteo Guidicelli, Second Lieutenant of the Philippine Army, a reservist proud to stand and serve for our country," he stated. His message serves as an inspiration to many, showing that true service comes from the heart.
