Veteran actress Angel Aquino has reflected on her candid live interview where she openly spoke about being attracted to women, saying the moment came naturally and was never pre-planned as a formal coming out.

In the interview, Aquino recalled how unexpected the situation felt for her, especially after receiving a wave of positive responses from viewers and the press. She admitted that she was surprised by how the conversation unfolded publicly and how it was received.

“I’m coming out today,” she said.

Angel clarified that her revelation was never intended to be framed as a formal announcement during the interview.

Aquino explained that her personal truth had long been known within her circle and among people who have followed her life and relationships over the years. According to her, there was no intention of hiding her identity, as it had simply not been openly discussed in public conversations before.

“No, and I feel kasi it’s something that people have known for a very long time and we just don’t openly talk about it. They’ve seen me with people I’ve been with and hindi ko naman siya tinago ever,” she said.

She also acknowledged the respectful treatment she received from the media, noting that journalists allowed her the space to speak about her experience in her own time without unnecessary pressure or sensationalism. For her, this made the moment feel more genuine and less overwhelming.

“But the response was very good. Thankfully also, the press people, they have been kind to not pick on that. And then they waited for me, I guess, to say something about it,” she said.

Aquino ended by expressing deep appreciation for the understanding she received after the interview aired, saying she felt grateful for the kindness shown by the public and media alike.
