Veteran broadcast journalist Connie Sison acknowledged the increasing difficulty of delivering accurate news amid the rapid spread of misinformation and disinformation.

Speaking on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on April 6, Sison shared that the current media landscape presents one of the toughest challenges in her decades-long career. She pointed out how the overwhelming volume of false information often overshadows verified reports produced by mainstream media.
“In a society as divided as ours, parang talagang gustuhin mong mamulat sana,” says Connie Sison.
She added that despite their efforts to combat misleading content, traditional news organizations sometimes struggle to keep up with the widespread circulation of inaccurate information online.

Sison emphasized that journalists remain committed to their role of delivering truth to the public. She stressed that the responsibility to inform accurately has become even more critical in today’s environment, where misinformation can easily influence public perception.
Reflecting on her 30 years in the industry, the seasoned reporter admitted that the situation has taken an emotional toll on her.
“More than any other time I think in my 30 years in the industry, Tito Boy, ito 'yung time na nalulungkot ako para sa ating bansa dahil napaka divided natin as a nation,” says Connie Sison.
She also revealed that even her co-hosts in the medical program Pinoy MD have expressed concern over the growing spread of health-related misinformation, which can directly affect public well-being.
Meanwhile, actor Martin del Rosario expressed pride in his aunt’s accomplishments and dedication to her profession.
“Napapanood ko si Tita Connie, nakita ko 'yung growth niya, 'yung mga achievements niya,” says Martin del Rosario.
He added that Sison’s success is well-deserved, citing her hard work throughout the years.
Connie Sison is a 50-year-old Filipino broadcast journalist who has been a staple of GMA Network since 2007. She is married to Christopher James Escudero and is a mother to three daughters, Danielle, Gabrielle, and Maxine. Currently, she serves as a primary news anchor for Balitanghali on GTV and continues to host the long-running health program Pinoy M.D. on GMA-7. After over a decade of service, she recently stepped down from her morning duties on Unang Hirit to prioritize her health and family.
