The radio host immediately went to the emergency room after the program, seeking urgent medical attention. At the hospital, doctors conducted a comprehensive checkup, including blood tests, X-rays, ECGs, and swab tests, to determine the cause of his breathing difficulties and to ensure his heart was not affected.

In his post, Jhaiho admitted that he felt desperate to catch his breath during the live segment but emphasized his determination to complete the show. The experience prompted the star to make a firm commitment to stop vaping.

He explained that the health scare was a wake-up call, motivating him to focus more on his wellbeing. The celebrity host also highlighted that e-cigarette or vaping use has been linked to lung injuries, a risk that health authorities in the Philippines have been actively warning the public about.

Health experts have long warned about the risks associated with e-cigarettes and vaping. According to a 2023 online survey by the Institute for Global Tobacco Control, 14 percent of Philippine youth, or around 1.21 million people, use e-cigarettes or vape products.

Department of Health Secretary Ted Herbosa has also cautioned about E-cigarette or Vaping Use-Associated Lung Injury (EVALI), a relatively new condition affecting users of these products.

In a report by GMA News Online, Herbosa said, “EVALI, e-cigarette and vape-associated lung injury, ito ay bagong illness na lumabas lang noong nag-umpisa nag gumamit ang karamihan nitong e-cig and vape products."
