The issue surfaced after social media content, reportedly generated using artificial intelligence, alleged that Hontiveros had requested Eala’s endorsement for an advocacy campaign. The senator quickly addressed the matter through a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 1, where she shared screenshots of posts from Jay Sonza and Malou Tiquia that circulated the claim.

In the images, Hontiveros marked the word “KASINUNGALINGAN” across the posts to emphasize her denial.

The alleged AI-generated article included dramatic claims that Eala rejected a supposed request from the senator. It featured statements such as:

“I AM NOT A TOOL:”
“Alex Eala Stuns Risa Hontiveros with Bold Neutrality!” to frame the narrative.

The same post attributed quotes to the athlete, including: “I am an athlete, not a tool for your political agenda.”

The content further claimed that Eala emphasized keeping her professional role separate from political issues. It also concluded with phrases like “RESPECT THE GAME. RESPECT THE BOUNDARY.”

While Tiquia’s verified Facebook page did not display the original post, she reshared a related claim on her verified X account on March 31 with the caption “This.”

Hontiveros’ swift response highlights growing concerns about the spread of AI-generated misinformation involving public figures, as fabricated content continues to circulate rapidly across social media platforms.
