Actress Iza Calzado candidly spoke about her past fears surrounding motherhood, revealing that her mother’s death by su*cide deeply affected her outlook on becoming a parent. During an interview with broadcast journalist Karmina Constantino for the latter’s YouTube channel, the actress addressed a personal question about whether she feared having the same affliction that took her mother’s life.

Calzado became emotional as she reflected on the topic but clarified that she was not offended by the question. She described the platform as appropriate for discussing mental health and personal experiences.
"This is exactly why I was so fearful of becoming a mother," admitted Calzado.
The actress, who now has a three-year-old daughter named Deia Amihan, shared that her past trauma fueled her worries.

"You think it doesn't haunt me, what I witnessed, what I endured," Calzado said.
She added that she once feared something might suddenly change after giving birth.
"But I try to come from a place of love because that is God's biggest lesson for me," she added.
Calzado explained that motherhood has helped her better understand her late mother’s struggles.
"My motherhood journey is teaching me so much about what my mother possibly went through," she said.
She also emphasized how these experiences influenced her advocacy for women empowerment.
Reflecting on raising her daughter, Calzado acknowledged both her hopes and limitations.
"I also understand that I cannot control everything," she said. She stressed that she can only shape her child’s values and resilience while accepting uncertainty.
Despite occasional worries, the actress said she does not dwell on fear.
"The fear is there, every so often, pero hindi ko siya tinatambayan," she added.
