More than two months before the coronation night, the Miss Universe Philippines 2026 has been surrounded by controversy after a candidate was removed from the competition.

The decision, announced through the pageant’s official social media accounts, immediately sparked speculation among fans and followers.
In its statement, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization explained that the move was due to the alleged continuation of “certain behaviors” despite prior warnings.
The organization emphasized that guidance had already been provided both verbally and in writing. It added that the pageant aims to remain “uplifting, respectful, and empowering to women.”

The group also stressed its commitment to keeping the experience “constructive and meaningful” for all participants.
The organization did not identify the candidate, but comment sections on its social media posts quickly filled with speculation from pageant enthusiasts.
The unnamed contestant will no longer participate in the coronation night scheduled for May 1, 2026, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Organizers also encouraged fans to wait for further details regarding ticket availability.
Despite the controversy, pre-pageant activities continue. Delegates recently took part in the swimsuit show held at Aqua Boracay Bulabog Beach.
The event showcased the candidates as they prepare for the national competition.
Viewers have also seen the evening gowns designed by notable Filipino designers, including Louis Pangilinan, Mark Bumgarner, and Ehrran Montoya. Meanwhile, Kapuso artist Roxie Smith remains among the contestants competing for the crown.

Authorities said Matados, a resident of General Trias, may be experiencing a medical condition.
