During an episode of the online show “Men’s Room” on One News PH’s YouTube channel, Benjie opened up about how his sons view marriage. He shared that both Kobe and Andre were affected by his past separation from their mother, Jackie Forster, which shaped their outlook on commitment.
"Yung mga anak ko yung dalawa as of now 30 and 28 (ages) na parang yung marriage para sa kanila nakikita kong sabi nila parang na-trauma sila because of my past experiences,” Benjie said.
The conversation stemmed from guest Raymond Bagatsing, who discussed his own struggles with relationships and family. He reflected on how personal trauma influenced his life choices.

“Maybe (trauma) kasi minsan naisip ko na bakit I don’t have a family minsan naiinggit ka but siguro you go through some kind of depression,” Raymond said.
He added that embracing his circumstances helped him move forward.
“Na-realize ko how to embrace whatever is given to me,” he said.
Benjie acknowledged his sons’ feelings and emphasized that he respects their decisions.
“Kaya nga kinakausap ko sila sabi ko hindi naman lahat ganu’n (tulad ng nangyari sa amin ng mom nila),” Benjie said.
He also expressed understanding toward their perspective.
“Pero kung happy sila sabi ko go ahead,” he added.
Kobe and Andre grew up without much time spent with their mother and only formed a closer bond with her later in life, which may have contributed to their views on family and long-term commitment.
Despite their stance, both remain active in their personal lives, focusing on their careers and relationships.
Benjie Paras, 57, is a Filipino sporting legend known as the "Tower of Power." He remains the only player in PBA history to win both Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player in the same season (1989), ultimately securing two MVPs and four championships. Following his retirement, he successfully transitioned into a beloved comedian and actor, starring in iconic hits like Palibhasa Lalake. His athletic legacy continues through his sons, Andre and Kobe Paras, both of whom followed in his footsteps as professional basketball players while also making their own marks in the entertainment industry.
In another report, Kobe Paras’ name has also been dragged into a separate controversy involving alleged private videos of certain male celebrities circulating online. Benjie and Andre Paras have firmly denied that Kobe is the man seen in the screenshots being shared on the internet. Andre pointed out that the tattoo of his brother is noticeably different from that of the individual in the video, emphasizing the mismatch. In response to the issue, the Film Academy of the Philippines has already offered legal assistance to those affected by violations of privacy and dignity.
Meanwhile, Kobe Paras has unfollowed Kyline Alcantara on Instagram shortly after she did the same, fueling speculation about a possible breakup. The two have been linked for months, although neither has publicly confirmed their relationship. Meanwhile, Kobe’s mother, Jackie Forster, shared cryptic posts about protecting one’s peace and letting go of certain people, which further stirred curiosity online. Fans continue to speculate about what may have caused the apparent fallout, with many waiting for an official statement from either side.
