During a candid discussion, Jay R explained how some artists may not receive the full amount agreed upon for performances.

“Kunwari, 100,000 ang pinag-usapan ng manager sa venue,” he shared.

He added that artists might only be told a much smaller figure and illustrated how discrepancies can happen.

“Oh, parang 10,000 lang ang na-deal natin,” he said.

He further revealed that deductions can make the situation worse.

“Tapos may kaltas pa 'yun na 30%, so 7,000 na lang mapupunta sa artist,” he continued.

According to him, such practices are not isolated cases.

“It happens all the time where managers don't reveal the real amount,” he stated.

Jay R emphasized that speaking up is not meant to harm anyone’s reputation.

“I’m not trying to, parang, taint his image,” he clarified.

He added that his intention is to advocate for fairness among artists.

Mica Javier also highlighted another side of the issue, pointing out the financial burden artists carry.

“Those are all expenses by the company that you owe as an artist,” she explained.

She refers to image-related costs often charged to talents.

She noted that many only realize the imbalance later in their careers.

“When they become successful, they'll feel it,” she said.

She added that this realization can lead to frustration once artists understand the full extent of their obligations.

Both artists stressed the importance of awareness and caution.

“First of all, they need a lawyer,” Jay R advised.
