District 5 Councilor Aiko Melendez has officially addressed the circulating rumors regarding her alleged plans for the 2028 elections. In a detailed Instagram post, she shut down claims that she would be the running mate of Mike Defensor for the top posts in Quezon City.

"I would like to categorically clarify that I am not running with former Congressman Mike Defensor in 2028," Aiko wrote, putting an end to the speculation. She further explained that there have been "no talks, meetings, or discussions" between her and Defensor about any such plan.

Aiko also took the opportunity to distance herself from campaign materials that have recently appeared in public and online. She made it clear that she has "absolutely no hand" in these tarpaulins and that they were not authorized by her or her office.

For the record, she mentioned that the only mayor she is in constant communication with is Mayor Joy Belmonte, whose "stellar leadership" she continues to believe in and support.
