“I stand by that analogy that I made but if some people were offended, lalo na Women’s Month, I’m sorry for those who were offended but if you read the context talaga, there was nothing malicious in it,” Suntay said in a DZMM interview.
He added, “Depende kung bibigyan ng malice nung nagbasa...Pasensiya na po. To make it appear offensive was not the intention.”

The controversy began during the March 3 House justice committee hearing when Suntay said:

“Alam mo, minsan, nasa Shangri-la ako, nakita ko si Anne Curtis, ang ganda-ganda pala niya. You know, may desire sa loob ko na nag-init talaga. Na-imagine ko na lang kung ano ang pwedeng mangyari. Pero siyempre, hanggang imagination na lang 'yon. Hindi naman siguro ako pwedeng kasuhan dahil kung anu-ano 'yong na-imagine ko.”
He compared his imagined desire toward Curtis to Vice President Sara Duterte’s prior statement about wanting to cut off President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s head. Suntay said,
“I stand by it. Ang ganda-ganda pala niya. Pero hanggang doon na lang. Ang punto ko lang na I wanted to drive at—something that you imagine, something that you desire, ano yan, it is not an impeachable offense if there were no overt acts, which was done.”
San Juan Rep. Ysabel Maria Zamora moved to have Suntay’s remarks stricken from the official record. Suntay defended his comment, saying,
“Alam mo, ang scenario na 'yon ay fictitious. Hindi ko siya nakita personally, napanood ko lang sa TV.”
Suntay explained that the analogy aimed to clarify that statements taken out of context should not automatically be considered impeachable.
“Ang punto ko, a lot of people they take a statement out of context kasi that analogy was made dun sa one of the articles in the complaints against Vice-President Sara Duterte...Ang imagination ba— is it an impeachable offense or a criminal offense? Kaya ako gumawa nang analogy,” he said.
He has also been criticized for defending Duterte on separate allegations regarding cash envelopes distributed to DepEd officials.
Anne Curtis began her entertainment career in the mid-1990s and steadily rose to become one of the Philippines’ most prominent stars. She starred in blockbuster films, led hit television dramas, and co-hosted the long-running noontime show It’s Showtime. Beyond acting, Curtis explored music, fashion, and business ventures. Her ability to adapt to changes in the entertainment industry while remaining authentic has helped her maintain a loyal fan base, ensuring both continued relevance and influence across multiple platforms.
In separate news, Quezon City Representative Bong Suntay faced public backlash after making controversial remarks about actress Anne Curtis during a House justice committee hearing. Several lawmakers criticized his statements as inappropriate and moved to have them stricken from the official record. Suntay, however, defended himself, insisting there was nothing immoral or improper in his comments. The incident occurred while the committee discussed impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte, drawing widespread attention to both the lawmaker’s remarks and the broader issue of decorum in official proceedings.
Meanwhile, Senator Risa Hontiveros called on Representative Bong Suntay to formally apologize to Anne Curtis for his controversial remarks. She emphasized that there is “absolutely no excuse” for such repulsive comments and reminded lawmakers that gender-based harassment is punishable under the Bawal Bastos Law, which she authored. Hontiveros also stressed the importance of protecting women’s dignity, particularly during Women’s Month. She urged public officials to uphold standards of respect, warning that incidents like this serve as a reminder that defending women’s rights remains an ongoing responsibility.
