Original Pilipino Music (OPM) singer-songwriter Jireh Lim expressed disbelief after receiving a copyright infringement notice for his own song, “Buko.”

The singer took to Facebook to share the surprising incident, saying he was flagged by the platform over the very track he wrote and popularized.
“When Facebook says: sir, that song, Buko is copyrighted’...” he wrote in his post.
“Gusto ko replyan: bro, ako to oh! Ako to! JIREH LIM! JIREH LIM! Yung nag sulat mismo ng kanta na yan. Hays," he added.

Released in 2015, “Buko” became one of Lim’s breakout hits and helped solidify his place in the local music scene. The acoustic love song resonated with listeners for its heartfelt lyrics and relatable storytelling.
In a 2023 interview, Lim shared that the inspiration behind “Buko” came from the love story of his grandparents.
“Kasi para sa akin sobrang mahiwaga ang pag-iibigan nila,” he said.
He also revealed that his grandmother, a school principal, was ten years older than his grandfather, who worked as a janitor. According to the singer, their relationship faced opposition from the family, but his grandfather fought for their love.
Beyond “Buko,” Lim is also known for other well-loved tracks such as “Magkabilang Mundo” and “Iingatan Ka,” which further showcased his talent for writing emotionally driven songs.
Despite the unexpected copyright notice, Lim’s lighthearted reaction earned support from fans, many of whom found humor in the irony of the situation.
