Boobay nagbigay-linaw sa pagkahimatay sa entablado at ibinahagi ang kalagayan ng kalusugan

Boobay has assured fans that his health condition is now being properly managed weeks after he fainted during a live performance in Bansud, Oriental Mindoro in January.

In a report by Nelson Canlas on GMA News 24 Oras, the comedian shared that his absence seizure is currently under control with the help of prescribed medication and routine consultations with his doctor.

“Okay naman na, okay na. Siguro nagpasaway na naman ako at that time talaga. Tumuhog na naman ako,” says Boobay.

He explained that exhaustion may have contributed to the episode. Before heading to Oriental Mindoro, he had already performed at a fiesta in Tondo and immediately traveled for another show.

“Bago 'yun hindi ko kasi in-expect din na ganoon kalayo pala 'yung pupuntahan namin ni Tekla. Before ako nag-show doon, galing muna ako ng Tondo sa fiesta doon. Dumiretso na ako agad-agad ng pa-Batangas,” he says.

Tekla admitted he was alarmed when the incident happened but chose to carry on with the performance to keep the audience at ease.

“Diyos ko, nangangatog ako. Siyempre ‘yung ano, paano mo i-explain?” says Tekla.

He added that quick thinking was necessary in that tense moment.

“Doon mo masasabi na the show must go on. On that moment biglang — 'di mo alam, so kailangan may instant ka dun na back up,” he says.

Despite the scare, Boobay expressed gratitude for his partner’s composure on stage.

“Doon ko na-appreciate si Tekla, ang galing niya ha. Partner talaga siya,” says Boobay.

The two comedians are now preparing for “The Boobay and Tekla Show: On the Go,” which will take them beyond the studio and closer to their supporters.

“Mas na-excite kami kasi hindi lang kami nasa loob ng studio. Nakakapagliwaliw na kami, nakakapunta na kami sa mga lugar na I'm sure ang tagal nang pinapangarap ng mga ka-TBATS natin na mapuntahan namin,” says Boobay.

“Lahat ng umpisa ng aming kuwento from the bus… Makikipagsalamuha tayo sa kanila kung saan man sila, pupuntahan natin using our Laff Bus,” says Tekla.

Boobay is a Filipino comedian, television personality, and actor known for his quick wit, expressive humor, and memorable appearances on variety and talk shows. After establishing himself as an individual in the entertainment industry, he went on to become one of the hosts of TBATS or “The Boobay and Tekla Show,” further strengthening his presence on television. Over the years, he has earned the admiration of viewers not only for his comedic talent but also for his sincere and relatable personality.

In a separate report published in 2023, Boobay appeared as a guest on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda. During the interview, he suddenly became unresponsive in the middle of the conversation. At the start of the episode, he was lively and actively joking with host Boy Abunda. The abrupt shift in his condition alarmed the production staff, prompting the seasoned broadcaster to immediately check on him and call for a break. Boobay later suggested that the intense studio lighting and lack of sleep could have played a role in the incident.

In August last year, Boobay once again caught public attention, this time for a heartfelt gesture. He shared a warm birthday message for his close friend Marian Rivera. Posting a photo of himself embracing the Kapuso Primetime Queen during her celebration, he conveyed how much he values her friendship. In his message, he expressed gratitude for having her in his life and assured her of his unwavering support, underscoring a bond that extends beyond their careers in show business.
