"This donation will directly benefit the ongoing treatment plans for children and individuals with cleft. This includes surgeries, consultations, orthodontics and speech therapy," she shared.
She emphasized the importance of giving children access to proper care and opportunities.
"Because every child deserves to live a happy, healthy and fulfilling life. 😁" she added.
Gray first announced the fundraiser on January 1, just days before her birthday on January 6.
"My birthday is coming up and once again I’m hosting a birthday fundraiser for the benefit of Smile Train Philippines @smiletrainph," she posted earlier this year.
In encouraging participation, she explained the realities faced by children born with cleft.
"Children born with cleft are faced with overcoming challenges eating, breathing and speaking. As well as the effects on their confidence and self-esteem. @smiletrain offers free, comprehensive cleft care in over 90 countries around the world and its DONORS like YOU that allow this incredible work to be possible!" she said.
To thank donors, Gray offered a special incentive.
"As an added incentive to donate towards Smile Train Philippines for my birthday fundraiser, simply email your proof of donation deposit slip to catriona.info@gmail.com with a minimum donation of ₱2,500 / $43 and I’II create a personalized video greeting for you! ⭐️" she remarked.
Smile Train describes itself as the world's largest cleft-focused organization.
"Since our founding in 1999, our sustainable model has empowered local medical professionals to provide life-changing, comprehensive cleft care in their own communities. To date, we’ve supported more than two million safe, high-quality cleft surgeries worldwide."
Catriona Gray is a Filipina-Australian titleholder, singer, model, and television host who rose to global fame after winning Miss Universe 2018. Before capturing the crown, she earned Miss Universe Philippines 2018 and previously represented the country at Miss World 2016, finishing in the Top 5. Beyond pageantry, she is admired for her eloquence and strong advocacies. She has also expanded her career into music and entertainment, releasing songs and appearing in various television programs and live events.
In a separate report by KAMI, Gray addressed her controversial viral encounter with businesswoman Anne Jakrajutatip in Thailand back in 2022. Speaking in an interview with Karen Davila, she opened up about Anne’s public apology. The former Miss Universe revealed that she was initially confused by the message and did not fully understand what it referred to. She also clarified that she chose not to investigate further or dwell on the issue.
Fans also celebrated Gray’s acting debut in the film The Loved One, directed by Irene Villamor. In the movie, she shares the screen with Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales. Gray admitted feeling pressure to prove herself and avoid being the weakest performer on set. To prepare, she attended intensive acting workshops and sought guidance from her seasoned co-stars. Aside from acting, she is currently working on producing a new musical collection.
