In a recent interview with Boy Abunda, Eugene candidly reflected on how her understanding of love has evolved through marriage.

For Eugene, love goes far beyond romance and grand gestures.

“What I know about love for sure is that it never ends in romance, everyday is a work that is voluntary because your faith and your love means I am committed to this until the day I die. That is what love between husband and wife is,” she said.

She added that her devotion to Danilo is unwavering.

“I loved him from the day I realized I love him and I have to love him until I die.”

Eugene also spoke fondly about the qualities she admires most in her husband, particularly his faith and patience.

“Danilo is a man of strong faith and his patience is immeasurable,” she shared.

She humorously acknowledged the challenges of being married to an actress.

“My husband is so patient.”

The couple’s love story began in 2014 at the Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy, where Eugene’s film "Barber’s Tales" was featured. Danilo was attending the event as a film critic.

At the time, Eugene admitted she had already given up on finding a partner and was considering a different path in life.

“Finding him is really a miracle and the miracle is from God,” she said in a past interview with Karen Davila.

Their relationship slowly blossomed through long-distance conversations.

Danilo recalled, “It was a slow process because we started talking every week on Skype for two to three hours I think and then we met again in Italy just the two of us in a very nice place in the place where my mother lives.”

He later proposed via Skype, and the couple married in 2016, beginning a journey Eugene now describes as grounded in faith, patience, and enduring love.
