Former Miss International Lara Quigaman disclosed that she was recently hospitalized after suffering from sudden and severe chest pain, prompting an emergency call and a series of medical examinations.

In a Facebook post, Quigaman recounted how the alarming episode began at home, forcing her husband, Marco Alcaraz, to contact emergency services when her condition worsened.

She described the pain as overwhelming and unlike anything she had experienced before.

“I was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, and since then, I’ve had a series of tests to find out what’s happening with my heart,” Quigaman said.

According to the former beauty queen, doctors later determined that the pain was not cardiac-related, but they opted to proceed with further testing to ensure there were no underlying issues.

“Even though doctors ruled out that the pain wasn’t cardiac-related, they want to be cautious and make sure it’s working properly,” she said.

Quigaman shared that she recently underwent additional procedures to check for possible blockages, though she did not reveal the exact medical cause behind the chest pain.

She admitted that the waiting period and recurring discomfort have taken an emotional toll on her.

“Sometimes I feel anxious, waiting for results, and especially when I feel pain in my chest area or when I feel short of breath,” she said.

Despite the uncertainty, Quigaman expressed gratitude for the experience, saying it has deepened her faith and encouraged her to slow down.

"But I am grateful for this season,” she said.

She added that the ordeal has taught her to surrender control and trust in God during difficult moments.

In recent personal milestones, Quigaman earned her diploma in Early Childhood Education in Vancouver, Canada, in June 2025. She has been married to Alcaraz since 2011, and the couple shares three sons.

Lara, her husband Marco Alcaraz, and their children are currently based in Canada, where they continue to build a new chapter of their lives while staying closely connected to the Filipino community.
