Speaking on Julius Babao’s “Unplugged” vlog, the former "Pinoy Big Brother" host did not hold back when discussing the reality of their lives since Robin entered the world of public service.

Mariel shared that despite the titles and the prestige of the Senate, Robin sees himself primarily as a public servant rather than a politician. She stood firm in her belief that his intentions have always been pure, even if critics might think otherwise. Para sa akinyun ah, siyempre sasabihin (ng iba), siyempre asawa ka, e, diyan ang (sasabihin mo), e, di sige basta ako ganun ang paniniwala ko,” she told Julius.

One of the most striking revelations was Mariel’s claim regarding their family's lifestyle. She proudly noted that they have not acquired new cars or houses from Robin's earnings as a lawmaker. Julius wala kaming bagong kotse simula nung si Robin ay nanalo, wala kaming bagong bahay, wala kaming bagong kung anuman na katas ng pagiging senador ni Robin, so, ‘yun ang aking taas noong masasabi,” she stated, highlighting their integrity.

However, the pressure of the job seems to be taking its toll. Mariel admitted that Robin is often frustrated by the slow pace of government work, which has led to talks of walking away. May mga times na kapag mainit ulo ni Robin sasabihin niya, ‘magre-resign na ako rito kasi ganito, ganyan.’ Now, I tell him, ‘we cannot do that because there are people who voted for you and relying on you,’” she shared.

When the conversation turned to the 2028 elections, Mariel was definitive. Despite being pushed by some groups to consider higher positions like the vice presidency, she says Robin has already made up his mind. “Nagdesisyon na siya, hindi na siya tatakbo,” she declared. She explained that he has no ambition for a more powerful seat and is mostly "turned off" by those pressuring him to aim higher.

Robin Padilla, a legendary action star in Philippine cinema, made a historic leap into politics in 2022 when he topped the senatorial race. Since then, he has focused on advocacies such as constitutional reform and the rights of Muslim Filipinos. Mariel, who has been largely focused on her business and parenting their two daughters, Maria Isabella and Maria Gabriela, remains his most vocal supporter even as he nears the end of his political journey.
