I got fired from Showtime right after New Years day with no backup plan. No clarity. Just with a mindset that there’s a purpose in all things,” he shared. Without a clear path forward, he returned to his athletic roots, joining the Philippine national American football team. However, even that victory came at a price; during a winning game against Korea, Eric broke his right hand, requiring surgery and months of recovery.

Amid the uncertainty of his career and health, Eric and his wife, Rona, made a pivotal decision to put their faith first. They were sealed in the Manila Philippines Temple, a move Eric describes as choosing each other and God before comfort or security. This spiritual foundation became essential when they were selected to represent the Philippines in The Amazing Race Asia. The couple’s ultimate goal for the race was the prize money, which they hoped to use for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) after years of struggling to conceive. Though they fell short in the finale, Eric now sees the delay as part of a divine schedule. “We really wanted to win Amazing Race Asia, but fell just short in the finale and didn’t earn the prize money we hoped would help us have a baby with IVF. But we all know what happened 3 years later, God blessed us with baby Legend!” he wrote, reminding his followers that timing is everything.
