During a recent episode of “All Out Sundays,” Bernal shared that she has long wanted to try playing a kontrabida after years of portraying sympathetic protagonists.
She said the opportunity excites her, especially with the depth given to her role as Althea Torrecampo, also known as Thea.
“Saka siyempre, kasi ‘di ba ang tagal na puro bida ako, ako ‘yung kawawa. This time naman gusto ko naman subukan talaga magkontrabida. At least maraming layers ‘yung character,” she says.

Bernal also expressed enthusiasm about working with Beauty Gonzalez, whom she considers a dream co-star in the series.
“Siyempre, unang una, ang mamalditahan ko ay si Miss Beauty Gonzalez. Hindi talaga ako hihindi. Gusto ko talaga siyang makatrabaho,” she says.
She added that her character is not a typical villain and has her own emotional backstory.
“At saka hindi lang siya basta nananakit. May lalim talaga. May sarili siyang kuwento. May sarili siyang mga kasinungalingan sa buhay,” she adds.
Earlier, Bernal also spoke candidly about the difficulties she faced while filming love scenes for the show, noting that her perspective has changed since getting married and becoming a mother.
“Hirap na hirap ako sa mga love scenes,” she says.
She explained that the scenes were more intense than what she had done before and admitted feeling self-conscious about how her husband might react.
“Intense ‘yung mga love scenes,” she adds.
“House of Lies” premiered on Monday and features an ensemble cast that includes Mike Tan, Martin del Rosario, Jackie Lou Blanco, Snooky Serna, Kokoy De Santos, and others.
