Binibining Pilipinas has joined the wave of online nostalgia sparked by the 2016 social media trend, with many users revisiting photos and milestones from a decade ago.

The pageant organization marked the moment by calling 2016 a “golden year” for both Binibining Pilipinas and Philippine pageantry as a whole.

In a Facebook post, Binibining Pilipinas revisited what it described as one of its most memorable years, beginning with the triumphant homecoming of Pia Wurtzbach following her Miss Universe victory in 2015.

The organization noted that the momentum carried into 2016, with its queens delivering strong performances on the international stage.

Leading the batch were Maxine Medina, who finished in the Top 6 of Miss Universe 2016, and Kylie Verzosa, who brought home the Miss International 2016 crown.

“This powerhouse batch proved their strength with a Miss International crown and consistent top finishes," the organization noted.

Several members of the 2016 batch also shared their own reflections online. Verzosa joined the trend on Instagram with a playful caption, writing, “2016? Fight me.”

The post referenced the year she won the country’s sixth Miss International title, which later opened doors to a career in entertainment and entrepreneurship.
