Kris, who is currently gearing up for her television comeback, admitted that while they spent nearly every day together during the peak of their stardom, their personalities were fundamentally incompatible.

"Parang hindi kami magkasundo talaga. Hindi kami mag-jive ng ugali eh," the actress told Tito Boy.

She recalled a brief window of two to three months when they attempted to explore a deeper connection.

"Pero siguro na-realize namin na hindi eh, Kahit i-try natin, hindi talaga tayo nagkakasundo. Tinry naman, baka lang, triny naman..." she shared. "Mabilis lang parang mga, kasi lagi kami magkasama everyday Talaga, siguro mga two months, three months. Hindi talaga kami magkaugali," she added.

This admission brings closure to a decade of speculation from fans who rooted for the StarStruck Season 4 alumni to become an item off-screen.

The topic resurfaced following a viral backstage encounter between the two on the set of the variety show TiktoClock earlier this week.

The meeting was particularly notable as it occurred while Aljur was accompanied by his partner, AJ Raval.

In a video that quickly made rounds online, Kris was seen teasing Aljur for "snubbing" her on social media and failing to reply to her messages.

Kris clarified that their communication styles remain as mismatched as their temperaments.

While Aljur prefers long phone conversations, Kris admits she finds them tedious. "He’s such a talker! I avoid calling him because I know the conversation will take forever to finish," she joked.

Despite the lighthearted friction, the two have reportedly cleared the air, with Kris even inviting him for a future vlog collaboration.

While her romantic past with Aljur remains a closed book, Kris is opening a massive new chapter in her professional life.

She is set to star in the upcoming afternoon drama House of Lies, which premieres on January 19, 2026, at 3:20 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime.

Now a wife to Perry Choi and a mother to their daughter Hailee, the actress is stepping into a "kontrabida" (villain) role, showcasing a fiercer side of the actress that audiences haven't seen since her early days in the industry.

Kris Bernal is a multi-talented Filipino actress and entrepreneur who rose to fame as the Ultimate Female Survivor of StarStruck Season 4. Over her nearly two-decade career with GMA Network, she has shifted from a beloved "bida" in hits like Koreana to a compelling character actress. Now a dedicated mother and "mompreneur," she makes her 2026 TV return as the fierce Althea in House of Lies.

During the same interview, Kris playfully speculated that her more defined, post-motherhood facial structure and the disappearance of her youthful "chubby cheeks" might have influenced her transition into villainous roles. The actress opened up about her past anxieties regarding career longevity, admitting that she feared becoming irrelevant before deciding to actively pursue her craft again after starting a family. Bernal is set to portray Althea, a complex and status-driven character, in the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime drama House of Lies, which is scheduled for a January 19 premiere. Moving away from "damsel in distress" roles, the actress expressed her desire to emulate veteran character stars by proving she has the versatility to sustain a long-term career as a multifaceted performer.

She also disclosed that she and former screen partner Aljur had lost touch, noting her surprise when she found she had been removed from his social media friend lists. Despite enlisting the help of Aljur’s brother, Vin Abrenica, to bridge the gap and verify contact details, the actress noted that her attempts to communicate initially went unreciprocated. The "AlKris" star suspects that a years-old viral YouTube video, where she tricked a then-unmarried Aljur into believing she was pregnant, may have caused lasting friction due to his sensitive nature. The pair finally crossed paths during a mid-January taping for TiktoClock, where Kris directly teased the actor about his "snub," prompting a lighthearted exchange where Aljur claimed he had tried to call her back.
