Chariz Solomon opens up about painful childhood, family separation, and abuse

Actress Chariz Solomon became emotional as she revisited the painful chapters of her childhood, particularly the separation of her parents and the time her mother left to work overseas.

In her interview on “I-Listen with Kara David,” Chariz shared that she was only four years old when her parents separated.

She recalled their different family backgrounds and early living conditions.

“Ang daddy ko mayaman. Ang nanay ko hindi well-off,” says Chariz.

She said there was an agreement for her father to support their education and provide a monthly allowance. Chariz also revealed that her mother was her father’s third partner.

'Yung nanay ko ay third partner,” she says.

Chariz was six years old when her mother decided to work in Japan, a move she did not fully understand at the time.

“Actually noong inisip ko, kailan ba ako huling nagkaroon ng passionate hug with my mother?” she says.

She vividly remembered her mother’s departure and how it felt confusing and painful.

“Pupunta na pala siya ng Japan,” says Chariz.

After their mother left, Chariz and her siblings were left with a helper who eventually disappeared. This led their relatives to divide the siblings among different households.

“Isa pa ‘yan, trauma number three,” says Chariz.

As she grew older, Chariz realized why they were separated.

“Noong naging magulang na ako na-realize ko,” she says.

Despite being enrolled in a private school, Chariz chose to transfer so she could be with her siblings. “Gusto ko silang kasama,” she says.

Chariz admitted she grew up feeling lonely and unhappy.

“Ang natatandaan ko lang is malungkot ako,” she says.

She also bravely shared experiencing verbal, physical, and se*xual abuse.

“Masaya ako na puwede ko na itong ikuwento,” says Chariz.

She added that while some relatives were kind, others were abusive, shaping much of her early pain and resilience.

Chariz Solomon is a Filipina actress and comedian recognized for her versatility and strong comedic presence on television. She first stepped into show business in 2006 after joining StarStruck Season 4, the reality talent search that introduced several Kapuso artists to the industry. Although she did not win the competition, it opened doors for her and marked the beginning of her entertainment career. Early on, Chariz was briefly promoted as a “sexy star,” a path she later acknowledged was not aligned with her personality or strengths. Her career eventually found clearer direction when her natural wit stood out during guest appearances in comedy segments, prompting directors to see her true potential as a comedienne.
