“The slab cake, the parang elongated slab na isang layer lang po siya which is actually uso po kung tutuusin. If you look at trends, 2026 trends or what, even in the US, ‘yan po ‘yung usong design,” Carla shared with the King of Talk.

She further explained that her priority was practicality and the enjoyment of their guests. “Nauuso po siya ngayon and we liked the idea kasi fully edible and we can serve the guests the wedding cake. We liked it, ang importante masarap at nagustuhan kasi 'yun naman po ang totoo,” she added.

Despite the harsh words from some corners of the internet, Carla maintained that she and her husband were too happy to be affected. “Kasi din, in a way, on a high pa kami from the wedding, so we’re happy and excited pa so kapag ganu’n na may masasabi, opinion or what, criticism, it doesn’t really affect us,” the actress said.

The cake supplier also defended the couple’s choice, noting that slab cakes are a popular alternative to traditional tiered cakes because they are easier to serve and emphasize a modern, minimalist aesthetic.
