In an interview, Gutierrez said she was shocked and angered by the circulating report, describing it as disturbing and deeply irritating. She explained that the fake article appeared to mimic a legitimate ABS-CBN News website and was first brought to her attention by a friend one Sunday morning.
“A friend of mine sent me that link. I read it briefly. Again sinali na naman whoever this person is or is it just I don't know what this people want. Sinali na naman name ng mama ko. I cannot understand why, for what?” she said.
The report falsely claimed that Gutierrez would allegedly receive P7.2 billion from an investment platform, supposedly sourced from her mother’s money.

She firmly denied the claim and said she immediately felt upset upon seeing her mother’s name dragged into another online scam.
Gutierrez added that this was not the first time Gloria Romero’s name had been exploited by scammers. Even before her mother’s wake, fake stories had already circulated online, falsely portraying her as a billionaire or even a trillionaire.
Beyond frustration, Gutierrez admitted that the spread of misinformation has raised serious safety concerns for her family. She noted that her son sometimes commutes to work using public transportation, making the situation even more alarming.
“For my safety and Chris because my son sometimes commutes, he rides the LRT to work to avoid the traffic. Tumatawa tawa lang ako dito because I don't want to show my true emotions on TV but it is really disturbing.”
With Romero’s first death anniversary approaching on January 25, Gutierrez said it was especially painful to see the false reports resurface during such a sensitive time.
Gloria Romero starred in Dalagang Ilocana, which earned her the Best Actress award at the FAMAS Awards in 1955, and in Tanging Yaman, a performance that won her Best Actress honors at the Metro Manila Film Festival in 2000. Through the years, she became an inspiration to generations of actors because of her discipline, humility, and deep love for the craft of acting.
Meanwhile, Amy Perez shared a touching video on Instagram featuring her with the late veteran actress Gloria Romero. The clip appeared to have been taken at a formal gathering, where the It’s Showtime host could be seen warmly embracing the esteemed actress. In the caption, Amy expressed her heartfelt grief and gratitude, honoring Gloria Romero’s legacy and impact on her life.
It can be recalled that Eastwood City and the German Moreno Walk of Fame Foundation also paid tribute to the late screen icon. Flowers were laid at Gloria Romero’s star on the Walk of Fame in recognition of her invaluable contributions to the film industry. In addition, Eastwood Mall posted a tribute on social media, honoring the multi-awarded queen of Philippine cinema for her enduring influence and remarkable body of work.
