Blanco recalled a lighthearted yet touching moment from the wake of her estranged husband. She referred to Mayeth Malca and Cheryl Singzon as “Aida” and “Fe,” referencing the classic 1989 romantic comedy Si Aida, Si Lorna, at Si Fe. In the film, Blanco played Lorna, while her co-stars played the other love interests of the leading man. In real life, however, there was no rivalry—only a shared mission to care for the man they all loved.

“When Ricky was in the hospital, we were helping each other. We were all fighting for the same thing,” Blanco explained. She noted that while Malca was physically tending to him, Singzon was there to support her daughter and the rest of the family. The actress admitted that being on the same page made the difficult situation much easier to handle.

Blanco’s perspective was largely driven by her role as a mother. She believed that if she showed her children that she was okay with her ex-husband’s relationships, they would feel at peace too. “Iniisip ko na lang na if ang papairalin ko is — lalo as a mom — kung hindi ako magiging okay sa mga naging ka-relasyon or relasyon ni Direk Ricky, hindi magiging okay ang mga anak ko,” she shared. For her, harboring "angst" would have been a hindrance to the family’s healing process.
