Actress-singer Maymay Entrata is opening a new and deeply personal chapter in her music career as she prepares to release her latest single, “Masunog Man,” on January 8, 2026.

The song marks her return to music after nearly a year-long hiatus and reflects a period of profound loss that reshaped both her life and artistry.
In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN, Maymay shared that the song was born from the pain of losing her mother, who passed away last year after battling cancer.
She described the project as something she felt emotionally ready to share after taking time away from the spotlight.

“Sobrang excited kasi kumbaga mag-isang taon din ako bago mag-release ng kanta. Super excited po ako dahil very hands-on po ako dito kasi nanggagaling siya dun sa karanasan ko two years ago, kung paano ako magmahal dun sa mga mahal ko sa buhay, lalo na sa nanay ko,” she said.
Maymay revealed that she co-wrote the track herself, drawing directly from her personal struggles.
“Isa po ako sa mga nag-compose nitong 'Masunog Man.' Nanggagaling po siya dun sa pain na nararamdaman ko two years ago,” she explained.
She added that the song reflects her decision to continue loving despite the hurt.
“Nagre-represent po siya na kahit masakit, I still choose to keep going. Pinili ko pa rin pong magmahal,” she said.
The singer also spoke about her decision to grieve privately when her mother became ill.
“Nung nalaman ko po na may sakit yung nanay ko, pinili ko po na hindi siya sabihin sa publiko,” Maymay shared.
She explained that she stepped back from projects to devote her time to her family.
“Importante po sa akin yung privacy ko,” she said.
The emotions behind “Masunog Man” are echoed in its imagery of pain, fire, and resilience.
“Parang yung mga masasakit na salita, yung mga masasakit na nangyayari sa buhay ko, nasusunog siya sa loob ko,” Maymay said.
She emphasized her choice to move forward with love rather than regret.
“Mas pipiliin ko pong masaktan kaysa mamuhay akong puno ng pagsisisi,” she added.

The Kapamilya star was born on May 6, 1997, in Camiguin, Philippines, and spent most of her childhood days in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental.
