Pokwang opens up about love, faith, and thriving business ahead of 2026

Comedienne and actress Pokwang candidly talked about her personal life, faith, and career as she faced questions about love and the coming year during her recent guest appearance on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda."

Currently single and focused on raising her two children, Pokwang was asked whether she is open to falling in love again in 2026.

Host Boy Abunda first asked her to reflect on how her year had been, prompting a straightforward response.

“2025 is a roller coaster ride. Wow!” says Pokwang.

She went on to explain that romance had not been kind to her over the past year, admitting that love remained a sore spot.

“Pag-ibig pa rin. Wala pa rin. Wala pa ring kinabang,” she says.

When pressed further on whether she has completely closed her heart to relationships, Pokwang offered a more reflective answer.

She shared that while she used to declare she no longer wanted to love again, her perspective has since changed.

“Dati lagi kong sinasabi ‘yan. ‘Ayoko na, ayoko na.’ Pero sabi ko, parang ang unfair naman ‘di ba? Hayaan na lang natin,” she says.

The actress added that she has now entrusted that aspect of her life to her faith.

“So sabi ko ‘God, bahala ka na. Kung alam mong para sa akin at galing sa 'yo, perfect ‘yun,” she says.

Pokwang’s last known relationship with American actor Lee O’Brian ended in December 2021.

Since then, she has focused on motherhood, healing, and rebuilding her life.

While her love life remains on pause, Pokwang shared that her business ventures are flourishing.

She proudly noted that her products often sell out quickly, leaving her with what she jokingly described as a positive challenge.

Marietta Subong, better known to the public as Pokwang, is widely regarded as one of the most endearing comediennes in Philippine show business. Her straightforward humor, relatable life stories, and nurturing, motherly image have helped her build a strong connection with audiences over the years. She was formerly part of ABS-CBN and later moved to GMA during the height of the pandemic. Among her well-known films are Call Center, A Mother’s Story, and EDSA Woolworth. Pokwang is a mother to two daughters, Mae and Malia, and her highly publicized separation from Lee O’Brian has also been a frequent topic of discussion online.

In recent days, Pokwang voiced her concern over the safety of students following earthquakes that affected several parts of the country. Through an Instagram Story, she supported calls to temporarily shift to online classes as a precautionary measure. She also appealed to the Department of Education to seriously consider the proposal, emphasizing that her stance comes from a place of maternal concern for children’s safety.

Earlier, on September 21, Pokwang posted a strongly worded Instagram Story amid nationwide protests demanding accountability over corruption issues. While she did not mention specific names, her message echoed the public’s frustration over greed and the abuse of power, and was widely interpreted as a firm call for those responsible to be held accountable.
