Kapamilya singer Jed Madela recently returned from Paris, France, where he performed for The Filipino Channel’s holiday event, “Paskong Pinoy sa Paris.” The concert gathered members of the Filipino community abroad and brought them a festive celebration far from home. Madela sang a medley of classic Filipino Christmas songs, including “Pasko Na Naman,” “Ang Pasko Ay Sumapit,” “Pasko Na, Sinta Ko,” and “Kumukutikutitap,” spreading warmth and nostalgia among overseas Filipinos.

Madela shared that his performance went beyond what was initially planned. “I’m supposed to do just five songs but I ended up doing more, almost two hours, kasi sobrang saya. Christmas din, it’s my gift to our kababayans in Paris,” he said. The singer described the experience as joyful and meaningful, especially during the holiday season.
However, while he was in Paris, Madela was unable to attend the Aliw Awards held last Monday, where he was recognized as one of the recipients of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. He later learned about the controversy involving his fellow awardee, Zsa Zsa Padilla, who expressed frustration after not being given the chance to speak onstage.
Madela revealed that upon landing back in the Philippines, he immediately reached out to Padilla to share his sentiments. “I feel sad as well, sabi ko. It’s a once in a lifetime thing, what more sa akin, I missed it and Zsa Zsa was there and not even five seconds na thank-you lang. There are two sides of the story, maybe they were pressed for time, for you to give recognition to somebody of this big of an award na kahit doon na lang,” he shared.

He also disclosed that he had prepared an acceptance speech in advance, knowing he would be out of the country. “I sent an acceptance speech, before I left for Paris, I shot a video an acceptance speech and submitted it to Aliw, and they didn’t show it also,” Madela said.
After Padilla decided to return her award following the incident, questions arose on whether Madela would do the same. The singer was firm in his response. “No, It’s something that I really treasure, something that I value as an artist,” he stated.
Madela also reflected on what the recognition meant to him personally and professionally. “When I received the email a few months back, nanlamig ako. I didn’t know how to react… ‘Am I that old?’ But when I look back, 20-plus years na rin naman ako sa industirya… I think I did good, represented the country very well,” he shared.
Hours after Padilla aired her frustrations online, the Aliw Awards Foundation released a public apology addressed to the Divine Diva, acknowledging the issue and responding to the backlash.
The Lifetime Achievement Award moment of Zsa Zsa Padilla became a hot topic after the singer-actress expressed how shaken she felt by the incident. In her statement, she explained why the experience deeply affected her. The article also detailed the public reaction and support she received.
Following the controversy, the Aliw Awards president issued an official statement addressing the situation. The foundation explained its side and apologized to those affected. The article highlighted how the issue sparked discussions about respect and recognition in award-giving bodies.
