During the second night of the SexBomb Dancers’ reunion concert on December 9 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Jopay Paguia-Zamora stepped onstage to perform alongside the band that immortalized her name in one of OPM’s most recognizable songs.

The crowd roared the moment lead vocalist Monty Macalino delivered the now-familiar opening line.

“Jopay, kumusta ka na?” he asked, drawing cheers from thousands inside the Pasay venue.

As the melody filled the arena, Jopay emerged, walked toward Monty, and gave him a heartfelt hug before dancing to the song that had celebrated her for years.

Monty later recalled the moment that sparked the creation of “Jopay.”

In an interview with the OG Channel on YouTube, he said he saw the dancer crying during a TV appearance.

“Pagbukas ko ng TV nakita ko ‘yung isang SexBomb dancer (Jopay) umiiyak,” he shared. The sight surprised him.
“Sabi ko, ‘ba’t kaya umiiyak ‘to ‘di ba nasayaw lang ‘to?’”

He explained that he didn’t like seeing her sad.

“Ayaw ko siya makitang umiyak,” Monty said.

The emotional reaction moved him to write a song dedicated specifically to her.

“I wanted to create a song na would make as if we have a connection,” he said.

He added that he felt this connection even though they had not met in person.

The SexBomb Dancers held a two-day reunion concert, with the first part staged at the Araneta Coliseum on December 4.

Fans were thrilled when the group teased a possible third installment during the MOA Arena show.

The Sexbomb Girls, established in 1999 under the leadership of choreographer Joy Cancio, are often credited as pioneers in shaping the landscape of Pinoy Pop. They first gained national attention as the dynamic dance ensemble on Eat Bulaga! before evolving into a full-fledged entertainment group celebrated for their novelty songs, spirited choreography, and undeniable stage charm. Their influence in the early 2000s helped cement their place as cultural icons.

In an earlier report from KAMI, Sugar Mercado shared nostalgic photos on Instagram featuring her former Sexbomb companions. She paired the images with a touching message about their sisterhood, their shared accomplishments, and the personal paths they each pursued after their time in the group. The post also included scenes from a recent Sexbomb concert and their guesting on Rainbow Rumble. In the same update, Sugar spoke candidly about her journey as a single mother and her responsibilities as Mrs. Universe Philippines 2025.
