Speaking about the proposal introduced by Trade Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque, the former Miss Universe expressed confidence that such a budget can still offer a simple yet complete holiday spread.
Diaz explained that she personally reviewed the Department of Trade and Industry’s sample list through Aldeguer-Roque, whom she described as a close friend.
“Of course pwede,” she said.

She added that the secretary had shown her the items included in the P500 meal plan.
Diaz explained that families could prepare basic dishes without going beyond the suggested budget. “You can have corned beef,” she said.
She also mentioned that fruit salad could be part of the meal. In another part of her statement, she said pineapple juice can be served with plenty of ice. Diaz also included pansit as one of the dishes that can be made on a tight budget.
For the veteran actress, affordability does not diminish the holiday spirit. She believes that even a simple selection of dishes can still bring families together for a meaningful Christmas Eve celebration.
Her remarks emphasize that Noche Buena does not always need to be extravagant, especially for households seeking practical options during the holidays.
Here is Diaz’s full statement as reported: “Of course pwede. And by the way, Sec. Cris (DTI Cristina Aldeguer-Roque) is a good friend of mine. She showed me all that the DTI has shown that you can get for 500. You can have corned beef, you can have fruit salad, you can have pineapple juice na dinadagdagan ng maramin yelo and then you can make pansit.”
