As the granddaughter of Nini Angara Quezon Avanceña, the daughter of the former leader, Amador said the film presented only “one side” of the story.

Amador shared a video from a talkback session earlier this month showing her relative Ricky Quezon-Avanceña’s heated exchange with the film’s cast and creators.

She revealed that the issue felt deeply personal, saying, “My Lola, our matriarch, died in 2021 at 100 years old. If she were still with us, would the producers have the gall to show this to her? It would certainly have sent her to her death.”

While acknowledging the filmmakers’ creative freedom, Amador reminded them of their accountability.

“Artistic freedom does not excuse you from artistic responsibility,” she wrote.
“We never even questioned all the negative traits you exploited.”

She criticized the film’s endorsement by the Department of Education, arguing that its mixture of satire and historical fiction blurred the line between fact and storytelling.

“You are weaponizing history according to your narrative for sales,” she stated, warning that many viewers might not distinguish fiction from fact.
Amador added, “We are in an educational crisis… showing only one side isn’t just poor storytelling—it’s miseducation.”

Though she admitted her statements might strain professional ties, she said she spoke out for her family’s legacy: “I am doing this my Lola and great grand uncle who are no longer here to defend themselves.”

Pinky Amador is a Filipino actress, singer, commercial model and TV host. Some of her most recent high-profile projects include “La Luna Sangre,” “Sahaya,” “Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday,” and “Abot-Kamay na Pangarap.”
