Donita Rose reveals defying her parents for love with Gary Estrada

Donita Rose has opened up about a long-kept secret behind her disappearance from showbiz during the 1990s and early 2000s—her relationship with actor Gary Estrada.

In an interview with Toni Gonzaga on *Toni Talks*, Donita revealed that Gary played a significant role in her gradual departure from the entertainment industry.

“Kasi, that's the part of the story nobody really asked me. My relationship with Gary was getting pretty serious at that time, and my parents were very much against the relationship,” she admitted.

The actress confessed that at the height of their love team’s fame, she went against her parents’ wishes.

“They didn't like the guy for me and kasi love team kami, so we were celebrated by everybody else, and we both thought we were in love,” Donita shared.

However, as time passed, she began to reflect on the consequences of her choices and realized the wisdom in her parents’ concerns.

“That was such a big struggle in my life, but somehow, I would think that there was something very wise about looking to the future to see, if I rebel against my parents to marry this guy, what will my future be like with my siblings, with my parents,” she explained.

Eventually, Donita made the difficult decision to end the relationship despite her feelings.

“So, I cut ties with him,” she said.

Donita Rose is a former actress who was also a prominent MTV VJ. Joshua Paul is the name of Donita's son with her ex-husband. Donita has moved on from her marriage and is now married to Felson Palad. She is the eldest daughter to an American father, William Kent Cavett, and a Filipino mother, Evelyn Ramos, who is from Pangasinan. Donita Rose and her husband Felson Palad appeared on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda where they discussed their relationship. The former MTV VJ admitted being ten years older than Felson was a concern at first but she realized love mattered more than age.

Previously, Donita Rose celebrated her son JP Villarama’s 21st birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post. She shared her pride as JP enters his third year of college studying Mechanical Engineering. JP is her only son with former husband Eric Villarama and has now officially left the nest. Donita, now married to gospel musician Felson Palad, lives in the US and often shares about her journey through motherhood and faith.

Last April, Donita admitted she wasn't able to hold back her emotions as she watched Candy Pangilinan's vlog with her son, Quentin, who had an outburst. Upon seeing Candy crying and admit that she was tired and drained, made Donita emotional. In the comment section, Donita penned a short note about Candy's video.
