Award-winning Kapuso actress and comedienne Manilyn Reynes shared her perspective on marriage finances, stressing why she does not believe in a strict 50/50 split between spouses.

During the September 27 episode of Your Honor, Reynes was invited by the House of Honorables as a resource person in their session titled “In Aid of Hatian: 50/50 ba Dapat ang Relasyon?”

There, she candidly spoke about her 34-year marriage to fellow actor Aljon Jimenez and how they manage their household budget.

Reynes firmly stated that she does not subscribe to the idea of equal sharing. “Hindi totoo,” she said.

She explained, “Kasi alam mo puwede naman kung sino 'yung kumikita ngayon maglagay ka dito. Malay mo ako naman wala akong kita today. Oh, e di hindi muna. Tapos, siya naman.”

The Pepito Manaloto star further emphasized teamwork in marriage.

“Alam mo kaya nga kayo magkatuwang e, hindi naman kailangan 50/50. Mag four ako, mag four ka rin, hindi ganun. Magbigay ako, magbigay ka rin. Hindi! Para sa akin, ah.”

She clarified that while she respects couples who prefer equal division, what matters most is the agreement between partners.

For her and Jimenez, flexibility works best: “Ano maibigay mo, magkano maibigay mo. Ito ba ilalagay natin?”

Reynes also offered practical advice for couples to set up multiple accounts.

“Maganda rin na hindi lang iisa ang account… That way kasi alam n'yo saan napunta? Wala kayong tanungan, because you know and you never, never, never fight about money sa totoo lang.”
