“Meron akong back tax na kailangan kong bayaran, hindi ko mabayaran. Ipambibili lang naman nila ng luxury goods, sabay gano'n, ipambibiyahe lang naman nila. Hindi... joke lang,” Pascual said, drawing both laughter and reflection from fans.
While his remark was made in jest, many noted that it touched on a painful reality—alleged misuse of public funds.
The award-winning actor is not the first celebrity to express frustration over corruption. Comedian and TV host Vice Ganda recently shared a series of Instagram stories criticizing how corruption weakens governance and perpetuates poverty.

In one post, Vice likened the people to victims hiding from a killer, labeling corruption as the enemy that continues to endanger the nation.
Similarly, actress Angel Locsin has, in past interviews, called for greater accountability and transparency, especially during times of crisis when government resources should be directed toward public welfare.
Other stars, like Enchong Dee and Agot Isidro, have also used their platforms to question irregularities and demand honesty from leaders.
While Pascual’s comment may have been delivered with humor, it resonates with a growing wave of public sentiment.
More Filipino celebrities are speaking out against corruption, using their influence not only to entertain but also to advocate for a government that truly serves the people.
