Sunshine Cruz, a well-known Filipina actress, has once again found herself the target of malicious fake news circulating online. Taking to Instagram, Sunshine quashed several fabricated articles about herself, her daughters, and Atong Ang, who has been making headlines himself too.

In her post, the actress shared a collage of screenshots of these so-called "articles," with a large "FAKE NEWS" sticker plastered across them to make her message clear. She then followed it up with a strong statement addressing the constant spread of false stories about her family.

"Few weeks ago, binubugbog, nakulong o nasa hospital daw ako. Ngayon, buntis naman ako or ang mga anak ko," Sunshine wrote, pointing out the absurdity of the rumors being spread online.

The actress expressed her dismay at how some netizens are still easily swayed by what they read on the internet without checking the facts as well. More concerning for the actress was that these false stories are not only spreading but also being monetized on big platforms. "Surprisingly, marami ang naniniwala na totoo itong mga ganitong klase ng kwento. Kaloka si Meta at YouTube. Monetized pa ang mga ito kaya padami nang padami ang nagpapakalat ng fake news," she said.

Her post quickly caught the attention of her followers, many of whom left messages of support, encouraging Sunshine to stay strong and ignore baseless rumors. Some also echoed her frustration over social media platforms that continue to allow such harmful content to proliferate.

This incident is just one of the many times that celebrities have been victims of fake news. Back in August, Pokwang also made headlines after she called out a fabricated story involving her, Pauleen Luna, and Vic Sotto. At the time, Pokwang criticized the people behind the rumors, saying: "Grabe mga tao sa socmed, mga wala kayong magawa, makakarma rin kayo sa mga ugali niyo!"
