Palad proudly revealed that he was still a virgin when he married Rose, a confession that has earned him the unexpected moniker of "the virgin husband" in online search trends.
The revelation was made during his and Donita's recent guest appearance on the talk show, "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda."
Palad, a pastor and musician, joked about the immediate attention the news received. "Tinawagan ko siya agad. Sabi ko, ‘Uy, parang dehado ako du’n ah. Kasi nakita ko… ‘yung sa Google, I was the number one search that day, ‘The virgin husband,’" he said, laughing.
He called his wife right after, teasing, "I was like, 'Hey, that kind of puts me at a disadvantage!'" But he quickly added, with a confident smile, "But you know what? It worked."
Donita Rose chimed in, highlighting a common, and often unfair, societal view of men who choose to remain celibate until marriage.
"Apparently kasi sa mga lalaki, parang questionable kung bakit virgin ka at the age of 37," she explained. "It's either one or the other. It's either babaero ka or you're gay."
Palad affirmed that he was indeed a virgin before their wedding, pushing back against those stereotypes.
He explained his decision was rooted in his role as a youth and worship pastor in the United States. He felt it was crucial to "walk the talk" and be an example to the young people he was guiding.
While he admitted to having "a fair share of rebelliousness" in his youth, he made a conscious decision not to give himself away.
This conviction, he said, was a testament to his faith and a core part of his identity.
The couple, who got engaged and married in 2022 after a whirlwind six-month courtship, shared a humorous anecdote that reflects their playful dynamic.
Donita recalled Felson's eagerness after they got their legal marriage papers from the judge.
"Nagpunta kami ng huwes to get the papers, because you have to have the papers first before the church wedding. Tapos sabi niya sa akin, ‘So kasal na tayo so puwede na?’ Sabi ko, ‘Oops, hindi pa. Wait for the church wedding'" To which Felson quipped, "I waited 37 years," a line that has since become a lighthearted inside joke between them.
Felson and Donita’s story is a compelling counter-narrative to the typical celebrity love story.
It emphasizes the values of faith, purity, and commitment, showing that a relationship can be built on a foundation of shared beliefs.
Their journey serves as an inspiration to many, proving that waiting for the right person can be a beautiful and rewarding experience.
