During the conversation, Karen asked, "Would you say na simple ang buhay mo dun?" referring to her life in London. Giving the question much thought, Bela admitted that while her life abroad was simple, it also felt "grand" because of the efficiency and progress she witnessed firsthand.
"Simple pero enggrande because I saw so many things that I wouldn't see here. I would watch plays that were full-on productions, I got to experience a first-world country, the efficiency of a first-world country that you know... sadly, now that I'm back, I see that we're still so so far away from."
The actress also emphasized that Filipinos don't even need to look as far as Europe to see progress. She mentioned how nearby countries already showcase developments that the Philippines has yet to achieve, citing Thailand, another South East Asia country in the clip.

"You don't even have to go far to see that. Just go to Thailand and see how much progress is there. My dad was living in Thailand for 30 years before he passed away in 2023," she said.
However, Bela's most striking admission came when she reflected on how living abroad reshaped her perspective on Filipino society and culture. She candidly described how staying too long in the Philippines can create a narrow worldview and briefly apologized for using the word "stupid."
"That also opened my mind, I feel like... one thing I really realized also when I moved to London is living in the Philippines really puts you in a bubble, and it makes us stupid. Sorry for the term, but it makes us stupid," the actress told Karen, apologizing in the viral interview.
She elaborated further, pointing out the lack of interest among many Filipinos in global matters.
"We have no interest in anything global, like there's no interest here in global news, we're so self-centered here. We only focus on our own problems. That's something that frustrates me so much, kasi when I stepped out, I realized how there's so many things happening, both good and bad."
Her honest words sparked reflection among fans and viewers, many of whom praised her for speaking her truth and shedding light on the importance of broadening perspectives beyond local issues. Some also pointed out that her observations reflect a sentiment shared by many Filipinos who have lived, studied, or worked abroad and then returned home after quite some time away.
