Actor Joey Marquez, who has 16 children, shared that he does not believe children are obligated to take care of their parents when they grow old.

In the Wednesday episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” he was asked about the proposed law requiring children to care for their elderly parents.

Joey said he doesn’t think it should be a requirement.

He explained that as a parent, he never saw his children as an investment but as a responsibility.

He did everything he could to give them a good future.

Joey also revealed that he made a promise to himself never to ask for help from his kids, even if he gets sick or ends up living on the streets.

He admitted that this could be wrong for some, but it’s how he feels because of his pride.

The actor is proud of what his children have achieved, saying most of them are now professionals.

For him, seeing his kids succeed in life is already enough.

He added that a father should fulfill his duties to his children without expecting anything in return.

That’s why he advises the younger generation to love their parents.

He said that a father will give everything even when he’s struggling, but he will not ask for anything back.

Even when in pain, a father usually stays quiet.
