In an Instagram post published on Wednesday, May 28, Kuya Kim shared an old photo of himself with Ka Freddie. It was captured on the set of ABS-CBN’s “Umagang Kay Ganda,” where the television presenter used to be among the hosts.
Alongside the throwback picture, Kuya Kim penned a short yet heartfelt farewell message to the legendary OPM artist.
“I will miss you ka Freddie,” the renowned TV host emotionally wrote.

Ka Freddie died at the age of 72 on May 27, 2025. The news was confirmed by his former partner Josephine Quiepo, the mother of his children, including singer Maegan Aguilar, during an interview on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda."
According to Josephine, the OPM artist died due to multiple organ failure. He lost his life while at the Philippine Heart Center.
“Pumanaw na po ang OPM icon na si Freddie Aguilar sa edad na 72,” Tito Boy announced on his show. “Kinumpirma po ito sa amin ng kaniyang ex-partner at ina ni Maegan Aguilar na si Josephine. Ayon kay Josie, binawian ng buhay kagabi si Ka Freddie sa Philippine Heart Center dahil sa multiple organ failure.”
Freddie Aguilar was born on February 5, 1953, and began performing OPM music in 1973. Throughout his five decades in the industry, he became known for songs with themes centered on family, patriotism, and social issues. During the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte, he was appointed as the Presidential Adviser on Culture and the Arts and also served as a member of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
Recently, Ara Mina has taken to social media to pay tribute to the late Freddie Aguilar. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Ara shared a carousel post that contains photos and a clip displaying the present she received from Ka Freddie after they performed together. According to her post, the actress received a lovely painting from the OPM legend, which came with a handwritten note. In the caption, the actress wrote a message honoring Ka Freddie.
Manny Pacquiao also honored Freddie Aguilar in his heartfelt tribute posted on social media. On his Facebook page, the boxing legend expressed how saddened he is over Ka Freddie’s demise. The former senator likewise lauded the late OPM legend’s “Anak,” expressing how the timeless hit touched his heart. The athlete likewise sent his deepest condolences to Ka Freddie’s family and friends.
