The Office of the President and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. have taken care of the hospital bills, debts, and other expenses left behind by veteran actress and National Artist Nora Aunor, a Palace official confirmed on Sunday.

According to Communications Senior Undersecretary Ana Puod, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) General Manager Mel Robles verified that it was the Office of the President and President Marcos himself who shouldered the late superstar’s financial obligations.
“‘Di lang yung hospital bill ‘yan, pati ibang utang at ibang expenses daw galing sa personal na pera ni PBBM (President Bongbong Marcos) ‘yan,” Puod said in a text message to reporters, ayon sa ulat ng Manila Standard.
“We don't know the breakdown… Kung magkano at ano breakdown ng binigay ng Presidente, we don't want to discuss anymore,” she added.
Nora Aunor, who was proclaimed a National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts in 2022, passed away on April 16 due to acute respiratory failure. She was 71 years old.
Under Philippine law, National Artists are entitled to a P200,000 cash award and a lifetime monthly stipend of P50,000.
Additionally, the government covers up to P750,000 annually for their medical and hospitalization expenses.
Upon their death, their heirs are entitled to receive a one-time cash award amounting to at least P150,000.
Nora Aunor was a celebrated Filipino actress, singer, and producer. Known as the 'Superstar of Philippine cinema, she has earned critical acclaim for her powerful performances in films such as Himala, Bona, and The Flor Contemplacion Story. Her contributions to the arts were recognized in 2022 when she was named National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts. In 1975, Nora married fellow actor Christopher de Leon. They have one biological son, Ian de Leon, and adopted four children: Lotlot, Matet, Kiko, and Kenneth de Leon.

In his Instagram account, "Pip" also shared a short message to Nora Aunor, pointing out that her contributions to the industry will never be forgotten. It can be recalled that Tirso Cruz III was "Pip" of their famous loveteam "Guy and Pip," which started in the late 1960s until the 1980s. The Philippine cinema's Superstar passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 71.
