It can be recalled that the Philippine entertainment industry is in mourning following the passing of the National Artist, whose death has been described by fellow actress Sharon Cuneta as “the end of a golden era.”
Shawie, accompanied by her husband, former Senator Kiko Pangilinan, paid her respects to Ate Guy at her wake on Sunday evening, offering condolences to Aunor's children, Ian de Leon and Lotlot de Leon.
During the wake, held at the Heritage Park, Shawie and Sen. Kiko spent over an hour, participating in a short program organized by actress Gina Alajar and members of their church community.

Following the service, the Megastar spoke with reporters, expressing her long-held desire to collaborate with La Aunor, a dream that, unfortunately, never materialized.
The Megastar emphasized the unique stature of La Aunor in the Philippine entertainment landscape.
“I think it’s everyone’s dream to work with ‘the greats,’ and she’s certainly one of those,” she stated.
“It's an end of a golden era in the industry. Because Ate Guy is truly one of a kind. The original and the one and only superstar. We all wanted to be like her,” Sharon added.
Former Senator Kiko echoed Shawie’s sentiments, highlighting Ate Guy’s inspirational journey from humble beginnings to superstardom.
“She is a great loss, a national treasure,” Sen. Kiko remarked. “Her story, from selling water by the train tracks in the Bicol region to becoming a superstar, is truly an inspiration to many people.”
The Megastar also expressed her satisfaction that La Aunor was able to enjoy the honor of being named a National Artist during her lifetime.
“I'm glad that she became a National Artist while she had time to enjoy the honor. And she was so deserving of it. It's a very big loss to the industry,” she reiterated.
Nora passed away on Wednesday night at the age of 71. Her son, Ian de Leon, later confirmed that her death was a result of complications following a medical procedure.
Throughout her career, La Aunor garnered numerous accolades and cemented her status as a legendary figure in Philippine cinema and music.

Recently, actor Alfred Vargas also posted a heartfelt tribute to Nora Aunor on Instagram featuring a clip from their film Pieta. He described their emotional scene where his character’s mother, played by Nora, could no longer recognize him. The actor-politician shared that working with Nora was one of the greatest honors of his life and taught him valuable lessons. Lastlym he praised her humility and generosity and called her the one and only Superstar the Philippines will ever have.

Another celebrated actress, Ruffa Gutierrez, paid a heartfelt tribute to Nora Aunor, who recently passed away at age 71. On Instagram, Ruffa shared a lovely throwback photo of herself with the Superstar of Philippine cinema. Ruffa said it was captured when Ate Guy received a prestigious award in 2015 in Malaysia. In the same post, Ruffa also lauded the late national artist’s contribution to local cinema.
