Alex Calleja responded to Chito Francisco's public apology.

He shared Francisco’s apology on his social media accounts, acknowledging the statement.

Posting it on Instagram, he wrote in the caption, "Apology accepted. Now let's move on! Tamang Panahon is still Number 1 on Netflix!"

It can be recalled that the controversy began when comedy writer Francisco accused Calleja of stealing his "carwash" joke.

In a Facebook post that has already been deleted, Francisco wrote, "Nanood ako ng Netflix special ng isang pinoy stand up comedian. Ginamit 'yung isang orig joke ko. Well, marami pa 'yko niyan brod. Madami ka pa puwede nakawin."

In response, Calleja posted proofs that the joke was originally from him, and that he had used it since 2011.

In a Facebook post of his own, Calleja wrote, "Post ko lang dito ang carwash joke ko since 2011 na nagawa ko ng writer ako sa Usapang Lalake at Goin' Bulilit. Sa Goin' Bulilit kasi, may topic ang bawat gags at carwash ang topic namin. Hindi ata ito nasama sa final draft kaya ginamit ko sa standup at pinost sa social media ng 2011."

After that, Calleja showed interest in pursuing legal actions against Francisco. It was later revealed that he has a friend-cousin who is a lawyer.

Calleja also shared a picture with Atty. Lorna Kapunan, sharing she's also helping him with his situation.

After accepting Francisco's apology, Calleja's legal counsel shared a response to it and a stern warning to the public.

"On 15 February 2025, Chito Francisco publicly apologized to our client on his Facebook page, which is duly acknowledged."
