Comedy writer Chito Franciso issued a public apology to comedian Alex Calleja.
This came after Calleja took serious offense at Franciso’s remarks accusing him of joke theft.
It can be recalled that Franciso previously accused Calleja of stealing the "carwash joke" that he originally made, which was later included in Calleja’s Netflix comedy special 'Ang Tamang Panahon.'

On Facebook, Franciso wrote, "I would like to publicly apologize to ALEX CALLEJA, my fellow writer, for accusing him of stealing the car wash joke."
Calleja's legal counsel also issued a statement about the issue and the apology given by Franciso.
It's worth noting that, Franciso, wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post, "Nanood ako ng Netflix special ng isang pinoy stand up comedian. Ginamit 'yung isang orig joke ko. Well, marami pa 'yko niyan brod. Madami ka pa puwede nakawin."
The said issue started from Alex Calleja's "carwash joke" from "Ang Tamang Panahon" comedy special on Netflix.
"I deeply regret what I have done to Alex, considering that my comments created and caused due and undue harm against him. I know Alex as a gentle soul, and by making those statements, it was wrong of me to put him in a bad light with false and baseless allegations. Worse, these comments went viral on social media, which led the public to insult him and question his integrity as a writer. I was careless and negligent in saying that, and did not realize the extent of the hurt and damage that I caused against Alex, nor the impact that it had on both his personal and professional life."
Franciso continued by hoping his public apology will clear the issue between him and Alex.
"I know what I had said has civil and criminal implications and penalties, which I hope in writing this public apology and posting it, can show my remorse and acknowledgement of my irresponsible act against Alex. I hope that this public statement will peacefully end the issue and settle the matter between me and Alex once and for all."
