Yoko Kamio, the author of Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers), has penned a heartfelt note for Barbie Hsu amid her passing this year.

On X, formerly Twitter, @yokokamioo wrote a short but Japanese message for the Taiwanese star who had just passed due to pneumonia.

According to Yoko, Barbie, who played Makino Tsukushi (Shan Cai) in the 2001 hit series, was a 'very memorable person with a cute smile.'

In her now-viral online post, Yoko said she is very 'saddened' over Barbie's passing this year.

"Hsu Xiyuan, who played Tsukushi in the Taiwanese version of Boys Over Flowers and Meteor Garden, has passed away... She was a very memorable person with a cute smile. I am truly saddened and disappointed. We sincerely pray for the repose of your soul," Yoko had written.

It is worth noting that Barbie rose to stardom after starring in Meteor Garden, the first live TV adaptation of Yoko's work, Hana Yori Dango.

Barbie played Shan Cai, who was the main protagonist in the series and the partner of Jerry Yan's Dao Ming Si, both of which were loved dearly.

Previously, Barbie's sudden passing this year was confirmed by her sister, Dee Hsu, breaking the hearts of countless netizens all over the net.

Following this news, many people have extended their condolences and sympathies to the family.

Amid the news of her passing, Barbie's old interview with Kris Aquino when she was in Manila, resurfaced, with the video going viral online.

During the interview, Kris had asked Barbie what she wanted to be by the time she reached 50.

It is worth noting that Barbie passed away at the age of 48 after contracting influenza during her family's trip to Japan for the Lunar New Year.

Barbie Hsu is a Taiwanese actress who rose to stardom for playing Shan Cai in the hit drama 'Meteor Garden.' Shan Cai is a strong, brave, and kind-hearted girl from a poor family who attends a school for rich students. Barbie Hsu’s role as Shan Cai made her a big star and loved by fans all over Asia.

As previously reported by KAMI, Alex Gonzaga took to Instagram and shared a photo of Barbie Hsu. She indicated how much she loved the 90's Taiwanese icon who recently passed due to pneumonia complications. "My San Cai," wrote Alex in bold letters. Along with it, she wrote "Rest in peace" and added a praying hand and a crying emoji.

Meanwhile, John Lapus posted about Barbie Hsu following the 'Meteor Garden' actress's shocking death. On X, formerly Twitter, the famous Filipino comedian-director recalled his meeting with the iconic Taiwanese actress. It can be recalled that Barbie Hsu visited the Philippines in 2003 for her concert, and Lapus was the front act for that event.
