In a report by GMA News, some Iloilo City officials, including its City Mayor, have expressed their dismay over one of the songs that the singer-songwriter performed during his show at the Dinagyang Festival 2025.
According to the report, the said song, “Ere,” which contains some explicit language, might have touched a nerve among city officials.
The report also stated that the City Mayor himself did not like it when the song was sung during the Dinagyang Festival 2025, which he said was a religious event.

The Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. or IFFI has also expressed support with the move of the city council to demand an apology from JK.
According to the IFFI, JK is one of the guest performers of a private organizer at Dinagyang.
The organization also admitted they were not able to check the line-up of the songs of the singer because they’re focusing on the security of the event.
As a result, IFFI now says that they will be stricter from now on in selecting who will perform during festivals held in the city.
GMA Regional TV news said they have tried getting the side of JK on the issue but they still have to receive a reply from his camp.
Juan Karlos Labajo, also known as JK Labajo, is a singer-composer and the frontman of a band that carries his own name, Juan Karlos. He rose to fame after becoming one of the top contenders in the popular talent competition "The Voice Kids Philippines" in 2014. He placed third in the said contest, just right behind Darren Espanto and Lyca Gairanod. After The Voice, JK appeared in various shows and flicks on TV. Aside from his acting career, JK is also known as the voice and creator of the songs 'Buwan' and 'Ere.'
Last year, JK, in an interview, recalled the time he reached out to his biological German dad. Previously, JK was invited by Ogie Diaz for a much-needed one-on-one interview. There, JK recalled how he got the number of his biological dad, contacting him on WhatsApp. However, what his father did afterward stunned the famous actor-singer afterward.
Previously, he also made netizens laugh on social media. At the time, a video of JK performing at a concert, went viral on Instagram. User @fttmph uploaded the video of JK being stunned by what a fan did. Needless to say, JK's reaction had netizens laughing hard online.
