It was reported that Chan was involved in an alleged "investment scam." He has allegedly asked for P14M from a client for a restaurant business and promised a 10% monthly interest. However, when authorities went to his residential address in a subdivision in Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City, Chan was nowhere to be found.
