Philbert Dy, an acclaimed Filipino film critic made an honest review of the movie "And The Breadwinner Is" top-billed by Vice Ganda.
He praised Vice in the movie, commending his acting.
Here is his full review uploaded on Letterboxd.
"Structurally, it's all over the place. It doesn't always feel like one scene connects to the next, and issues will pop up only to be ignored in the next scenes. There are arcs for the characters, but they are played out thinly, their conflicts often resolved in one or two lines, without enough work put into really digging into who these people are. Instead, we get references to Vice Ganda's previous movies.

But when it really counts, the movie can be relied on to deploy strong drama. There is one scene in particular that plays out in one long take that has the entire family laying out their issues that feels pretty powerful. And it puts forward an interesting argument about what it means to be part of a family, and what one is meant to be doing for them.
The lack of structure blunts the effect of the scene, though, and the movie moves on to a resolution it doesn't really earn. But it does mark a real evolution in Vice Ganda, and what one can expect from her movies. In that one scene, Vice Ganda is just phenomenal, exuding emotion that exceeds personal struggle. She's representing the pain of every person ever burdened with being a sole breadwinner, and she knocks it out of the park."
Vice Ganda is a famous comedian, actor, endorser, and host in the Philippines. He is best known for hosting “It’s Showtime” and for his commercially successful movies in the MMFF. The superstar is currently in a relationship with Ion Perez. They got their Certificate of Commitment in a special ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Oct. 19, 2021.
As previously reported by KAMI, Vice Ganda addressed the alleged debt of "It's Showtime" to GMA. On Tuesday's episode of the noontime show, the comedian dismissed the said allegation. The Unkabogable Phenomenal Superstar also mentioned Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes. Earlier, the GMA executive previously denied the debt rumors being spread against the program.
Meanwhile, Vice Ganda has stirred social media buzz lately. On the noontime show "It's Showtime," Vice asked viewers about their plans for Christmas this year. Eventually, Vice cracked a joke, saying people should start planning for Christmas instead of lurking on Twitter. At one point, the 'Unkabogable Star' also poked fun at people for losing sleep lately.
