Coco Martin, in a recent interview with Ogie Diaz, revealed that he experienced being rejected twice by ABS-CBN many years ago.
During the interview over “Ogie Diaz Showbiz Updates,” the actor-director-producer said the network twice rejected his move to be part of a couple of projects because of his past image.
It can be recalled that Coco started out with Indie gay films, which somehow earned him the tag of being a “bold star.”
“Dalawang beses akong nireject ng ABS-CBN kasi nga ang tingin sa akin bold star,” Coco said during the interview.

“Bago ako nabigyan ng break, lahat ng klase ng lait natanggap ko,” he also said.
Coco narrated about an instance when he received an offer through his handler for him to have a role alongside Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao.
When he accepted the role, he was later informed that the offer had been withdrawn because he was viewed as a bold star.
He also quoted what the casting agent told his handler during that time: “‘Sexy actor pala si Coco Martin, e alam mo naman ang ABS-CBN may image e’,” Coco said, quoting the casting agent.
“Do’n na ako nasaktan. Galit na galit talaga ako,” he said.
“Bakit gano’n? Sila ‘yung kumukuha sa akin; sila ‘yung nag-inquire tapos ‘pag binalikan ka nila para bang napakababa mong tao,” the actor-director-producer said.
“Sinumpa ko talaga noon ang ABS, honestly. Sinumpa ko talaga kasi ang sakit e. Ang baba ng tingin sa’yo tapos ikaw ang taas ng respeto mo sa trabaho mo,” Coco said.
Coco must have already buried the hatchet with ABS-CBN a long time ago because the actor and the network have been working on dozens of projects for more than two decades now.
Coco Martin is an actor, director and producer in the Philippines. He is much admired for his performance as Ricardo Dalisay in FPJ: Ang Probinsyano which lasted on air for seven years. At the end of that series, Coco rested for a few months and returned to Batang Quiapo.
In the same interview with Ogie Diaz, Coco revealed why he doesn’t want to celebrate his birthday. He said he had a bad experience in his youth that he can’t forget up until now. He also remembered what his mother’s reaction was at the time. Despite his unwillingness to celebrate his birthday, he is very grateful to those who remembered him on his special day.
During the interview with Ogie, the actor-director-producer also revealed he spent P11 million to demolish the house he built for his family due to a faulty design. He also said he gave one house each to her siblings, mother, father, and stepfather so that they could live well. Coco also built a new residence for the family in a village after a dispute arose even though they were in the same compound. The actor-director-producer revealed he made made sure that his siblings were treated equally at work and at home to maintain respect and discipline.
