Bulakenyo designer Manny Halasan crafted the golden ensemble dubbed 'Hiraya.' As per Miss Universe Philippines' posts, the costume pays tribute to the deep historical connection between the Philippines and Mexico
"This National Costume symbolizes the deep historical connection between the Philippines and Mexico, reflecting their shared belief that faith guides us through life. It represents the Christianization of the Philippines through the Galleon trade, including religious icons like Our Lady of Antipolo, brought from Mexico in the 16th century," MUPH shared.
The organization also detailed the elements incorporated throughout the meaningful costume.

"The costume also honors the introduction of Islam, with elements like Inaul fabric from Sultan Kudarat and Tongkaling ornaments from Mindanao, along with Puni from Bulacan."
